Little Qualicum Cheeseworks is a small family run cheesemaking facility located on a picturesque Vancouver Island Farm. We are a small team of farmers, cheesemakers, and food lovers, working together to create excellent products with milk from our happy herd of cows.

This seasonal position provides support in all packaging and shipping activities of Little Qualicum Cheeseworks. Ideally, you will develop a wide range of food handling and equipment skills related to the food manufacturing industry.

The packaging assistant position requires lots of hands on work and fine motor skills.

This position starts in April till the end of December.

General:

• The work week will generally be Monday to Friday, 7:00am until work is completed.
• Any hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will be paid time and a half overtime.

Responsibilities:

• Be part of the team responsible for all weekly packaging, shipping and stock control.
• Maximize work enjoyment of the entire team while meeting packaging, shipping and retail requirements.
• Ensure quality is maintained in each aspect of the packaging process
• Problem solve if/when shortage or over-stocking occurs to minimize waste
• Manage risk of contamination with diligent cleaning/sanitizing of workplace
• Ensure food safety procedures are adhered to
• Communicate with and provide information to the Quality Assurance manager to test for quality and safety of all products
• Look after daily/weekly cleaning and sanitizing checklists in packaging areas and other common areas as needed.

Experience an asset but not required.

Must be detail oriented.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Must be able to stand for long hours.
