It's hard to believe there was a time when crispy cheese wasn't a standard in our burger spread. The crunch of golden cheese is a mouthwatering textural addition to any burger, plus it's quick and easy to make!
What you need:
- LQC Mt. Moriarty* (4 thin slices or 1/4 cup shredded for each crisp)
*Mt. Moriarty is an aged alpine-style cheddar. We chose it here for flavour depth and optimal melting characteristics - not too flowy or stretchy, which is perfect for getting that crispy texture.
Stovetop directions:
Heat a skillet on medium-high. Add cheese to hot pan. When it begins to turn golden, flip it so the other side can crisp up as well.
Oven directions:
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). On a lined baking sheet, make little piles of shredded cheese spaced apart 2". Bake 7 min or until evenly golden.
Notes
- Sliced cheese will make for a more substantial cheese crisp (see image in stovetop directions)
- Shredded cheese becomes more delicate and "lacy" (see image in oven baked directions)
- Try this as a base for appies!
