Crostini: 8 Ideas for an Easy Appetizer
The halfway point between bread and crackers, crostini combines the best of both worlds. We enjoy them for their crunchy texture, substance, and simple prep as an appetizer. With so many pairings to choose from, there are endless ways to prepare crostini - here are some ideas to get you started!
Island Brie + Apricot Jam + Sliced Almonds + Thyme
Island Brie + Fig Jam + Prosciutto + Rosemary
Caerphilly + Tomato + Garlic Syrup + Fresh Basil
Bleu Claire + Onion Jam + Thinly Sliced Pear + Walnuts
Garlic Pepper Feta Whip + Blistered Cherry Tomatoes + Thinly Sliced Red Onion + Parsley
The Feta Whip does most of the work here! Drizzle the cherry tomatoes with olive oil and toss them under the broiler for a few minutes until they begin to bubble and brown (but not char). If you aren't wild about the taste of raw onion, you can throw those in with the tomatoes as they broil - the aroma is incredible as they cook!
Fromage Frais Natural + Hot Pepper Jelly + Pomegranate + Sliced Green Onion
Pomegranate and green onion garnish elevates this classic combo. We like a pepper jelly with some heat to it, but you could also use a milder one instead. Our farm shop carries a wide selection of local pepper jellies to complement our Fromage Frais - we've tried many of them and are happy to recommend one that suits your taste and preferred spice level.
Fromage Frais Herbie + Smoked Salmon + Fresh Dill + Lemon Zest & Coarse Sea Salt
Another classic combination complemented by the bright, fresh flavours in our savoury herbed Fromage Frais. If cold smoked salmon isn't for you, try this with smoked & candied instead - it's equally delicious!
Fromage Frais Cranberry Pepper + Salami + Nuts + Rosemary
The combination of sweet and savoury here makes for a delightful appetizer. Be generous with the Fromage Frais, top it with a single slice of salami and only a few salted nuts. For a sweeter take, omit the salami and switch out the salted nuts for candied.
